Trinity Church Cemetery
I read in the paper a few days ago about the abandoned City Hall train station that hasn’t been in use since 1945. Apparently it was closed down because as the rapid transit system was beginning to grow in the early 20th century, the station was simply too small to fit the longer passenger trains that were starting to come to use.
Up until recently, there was no way the general public was able to see the station. But now train conductors are letting straphangers stay on the 6 train after its last stop to make the turnaround back uptown. After the last stop at the Brooklyn Bridge station, the 6 makes a loop around the abandoned City Hall station and if you have a cool train conductor (like mine was) he’ll stop the train long enough for you to catch a glimpse of it.
Here are a few pics of the station courtesy of NYC Subway.

Oh you know, just on a casual stroll on the Manhattan Bridge on my way home from work.
Not like I have a magnificent view or anything.
